Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I purchased a used car off Craigs List and when I went to register it, the DMV informed me that it had a salvaged title. When we were looking to buy a vehicle, we did not look at any salvaged cars due to the uncertainty and it is uninsurable. I have the add that clearly states the car has a clean title. When we contact the seller, he told us that the car was his brothers and he only had $200 left. He then offered to help us sell the car. We want to get our money back and return the car.

Sounds like you are dealing with a crook! So you could sue to give the car back and get your money back or you could sell the car of course disclosing the salvage title and then sue the crook for the difference.
By the way next time use ca fax or one of those title/report companies that way it would have been disclosed or the company would have to perhaps pay damages to you.
Good luck and hope that helps.
