Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
If you purchased a new car (honda) and it covered by Honda for 8 years or 80,000 miles and a major part goes out and gets replaced by the Honda dealer. Is that part covered for the balance of the 8 years or is it covered for an additional 8 more years?

There are several answers to your question, depending on how far into the warranty you are. Essentially the part is warrantied until the eight year warranty expires. Unless the part was replaced during the final year (i.e. year eight) then it will depend upon the written warranty on the back of the repair order. For example if the vehicle were purchased on Jan. 1, 2003 then the warranty would expire on December 31, 2010. However, if the part were replaced on December 1, 2010 and the repair order called for a 12 month/12K warranty on work then there is a good chnace that the repair order warranty would cover the part until December 1, 2011 or 12K miles which ever comes first.
Good luck.
