Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

I purchased a used car in Sacramento from used car sales on May 20th for 9k. I paid for the entire purchase with check, no financing involved. After 4 weeks, I began calling the dealership because I still had not received my title nor any registration paperwork from the CA DMV. They told me to wait a few more weeks because the DMV was slow. At 6 weeks, I went to my CSAA DMV office and found that the dealership had typed in the wrong zip code and therefore the wrong city when they transmitted the transaction information to the DMV. I called the dealership and was basically ignored. Then I called their main office in another state. I was advised me that this was an ongoing problem for them that they were trying to fix. They told me that the problem was corrected immediately with the CA DMV and that I should get my paperwork soon. Per the CSAA DMV office, the dealer did correct the paperwork on July 19th and they had me file a request for duplicate title and reg, but all I have received on 8/14 is a registration card effective August 20th, but there are no registrations stickers for the license plates and I still don't have my title. I am fed up and want to return the car to the dealership and get my money back. Do I have any recourse?

Now your issue is with the DMV, not the dealer. Go back the DMV office and demand that they help you straighten it out.
