Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

A Real Estate Fraud

My parents purchased a piece of vacant land 13 years ago in Palmdale CA.

An agent demanded downpayment money.

We paid him the money but he took the money and disappeared.

We recently tried to report to police, California Attorney General, and California Real Estate Department.

However, statute of limitations passed long ago.

We really regret that we didn't report him earlier.

We recently located the swindler in San Francisco area and he became a broker/CEO of Century21 branch.

Our last hope is hire an attorney to file a claim against him. Is it possible? Do we have a case?

We have all hard evidences such as contract, hand written fax, checks, and others to support.

Re: A Real Estate Fraud

i deeply sympathize with your situation with this seemingly fraudulent real estate broker/agent. however, if the statute of limitations has passed civilly as well as criminally, there is little recourse you would have at your disposal to remedy the wrong you suffered unfortunately. unless you have additional facts or dealings with this individual, you may have to absorb the loss and chalk it up to a bad experience that you can learn from. however, if you do have additional facts that may prolong the statute of limitations period, i.e. when you exactly discovered this agent's fraud and/or any other dealings with him/her, email me this information and i would more than happy to help you get legal justice here.
