I received a gift of mascara from an esthetician's class. After checking the packaging I noticed it's expired. Should I do anything? What if I had used it?

Don't worry about expiration dates. Expiration dates are generally way too over protective. If there is no foul smell, it should be fine. Just don't eat it.
