Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

If I recieve a check in the mail from America Association of Mystery shoppers, and I never signed up for this. Can I cash the check or am I reponsible for the to do their evaluation program even if I did not sign up for it?

Seems like a mystery to me. There are probably terms stated on the back of the check that signs you up for some program if you endorse the check. When things seem too good to be true, they probably are.
