Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Refund Request Refused By Youth Basketball Club
Hello,
Several months ago, my daughter tried out for a basketball club which doesn't appear to be affiliated with a profit nor non-profit organization. It's basically a bunch of parents who wanted to start a basketball team for their kids. After the tryout, we provided them with a $50 fee for practices that would start 3 months from that date. A month later, we decide to send out daughter to another team. The former team will not refund the $50. They say that an email was sent out notifying the previous parents of the non-refundable nature of these fees. We were never informed of this policy at the tryout and only informed when I requested the refund. There is also no mention of the no refund policy on their application forms either.
If I were to pursue this in small claims, will I win?

Re: Refund Request Refused By Youth Basketball Club
It probably would cost you about half that much to file your small claims lawsuit, plus time missed from work.
