Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Can a reposession company repeatedly call, and come to my work? I realize the best way to deal with this is to pay the bill to begin with. There's obviously been circumstances out of my control that have caused this problem. In the mean time They've come to my work and, in intimidating fashion, publicly announed that they were there for my car, because I didnt pay my bills. It was embarresing, and worse it disrupted my workplace. My employer deserves to not have my financial problems aired in plain view of their customers. With a little time I'm now in the position to be able to catch things up. But in the mean time, can they do this?

If they are attempting to collect a debt then what they are doing is illegal under both our state's and the Federal Fair Debt Collection Laws. You need to tell them to stop harassing you at work. I would suggest that you find a lawyer to help you because you may be able to sue them for violations of the fair debt collection laws and put a little heat in their direction. You might even have a pretty good case against them.
Good luck and hope that helps.
