Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Repossion of a vehicle

What is the procdure to reposess a vehicle that was sold to an indivdule that has defaulted on contract of agreement to pay for vehicle. I sold a car to a so-called friend who at the time of purchase paid $450.00 down and the ballance of $3000.00 due by Nov.1st 2003 less any payments paid. No other payments have been made and no atempt to contact me has been made. On the other hand I have repeatedly tried to contact the party with no sucess. The buyer has regestered the vehicle in his name but I hold the title and am the lien holder. We did write up a contract that was signed and witnessed to this agreement of when ballance was due.

Thank you for your time and any information you can provide. RYV

Re: Repossion of a vehicle

You should contact a reposser to get the car. After getting the car you have to give a notice of intent to sell etc. You can get forms from DMV.
