Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Have I been scammed? Do I have a legal case?
A website called d2jsp.org asked for a form of identification as verification to process a account recovery request I initiated. I submitted my health card and the email address I was instructed to email has never responded. The email message I received below on (Oct-3-2011) does not tell me an approximate response time and I have tried to contact the website several times, receiving no replies. I'm afraid they have solicited information from me such as my address, and my health card, and have no intention of processing my account recovery request like they say.
It appears this may be a scam by the website for identity theft but I am not who to contact to resolve this issue as the website owner only supplies his email, and he continues to not respond to me.
This is the original message I received that asked me to send my id or the website would not process my account recovery request further.
Hello,
You recently submitted a request for an account recovery at the d2jsp forums. This email is to notify you that your recovery request could not be completed.
The information you provided was not able to be confirmed or validated. To verify you as the original account owner, please email a picture of your Drivers License (or Passport, or Health Card) to [email protected], and be sure to include your account name that you are trying to recover. We will not be able to process your recovery request without this verification.
Thanks!

Check your credit report from annualcreditreport.com and see if there are unusual debts or credit card applications. If so, make sure to dispute them. I don't know this outfit, but I would recommend that one never send identification and other private information to a website before fully fully investigating it.
