Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
What can I do if I got scammed by a multi-level marketing company?
Two years ago I got involved with a multi-level marketing company. Was talked into taking out loans/credit somewhere around 50K with promises that ''they'' would help me build a ''team.'' A few months later, I realized that wasn't going to happen and wrote a letter to the company complaining of ''bad faith'' and requesting my money back. By this time the company was going to court for a class action lawsuit (I did not know at the time I joined). Company is shut down and claim forms were sent out, but I am not expecting very much in return due to the number of claims filed. What can I do to get the loans/credit cards off my hands? I realize I was stupid, but do not want to go bankrupt as a result of this.
