Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

security deposit return

I rented a house in Seattle for a

vacation recently. I paid $1,000

damage deposit and was told it would

be returned minus $150 for

cleaning. It has been 6 weeks since

our return and the homeowner just

keeps giving me ''check is in the

mail'' stories. (She is not claiming we

did any damage.) What action do I

take if I do not receive payment?

You would have to go to small claims court in King County, Washington. Check WA law to see if you can do the trial by affidavit as opposed to personal appearance.
