Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
How to settle a claim?
On May 06/13/05, A car that is backed out from a parking lot of a shopping plaza hit my rear bumper, even though I attempted to move my car away quickly. A lady come out of the car and verbally agreed to pay the cost of repair (approximately $650.00) out of her pocket. Since we are both tenants in the same commercial plaza, we know each other very well. There were some witnesses at the time the collision was occurred. No paperwork was filed and no police report was made.
What can I do in this case to protect myself from any potential backfire or lawsuit against me? What paperwork or agreement do we need to draft? Do we still have time to make a claim, if needed?
Your advice is highly appreciated.

Re: How to settle a claim?
You could ask for a check for the $650 and have the drawer of the check write "Full Settlement of May 6/13/05 (?) Accident" on it. Then shake hands on the deal.
