Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

I signed over the pink slip of my car and can't get paid.

I sold my used truck to a ''family friend'' with the verbal agreement that he would pay me $2000.00 at the end of the month. I signed the pink slip over to him on the spot because he needed to use the truck right away and I didn't want to be responsible for the truck while he was driving it. It is now five months later and I have yet to see a dime. Is there a way I can collect the money he owes me even though I don't have a written contract?

Yes. Sue him in small claims court and tell your story. You do not need a written contract.
