Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Signed up with a WSN- few days later found out it was scam - but ''No Refund Pol
I was scouted as a model. They used high pressure to get me sign up and give my credit card info to pay the set up fee of 995 by phone. I was told that if I do not pay this fee I will be kicked out of line ruin my chances in this industry. I signed up thinking company is legitamite. Later did research on company. Found much info re: this company and its scandalous activities. Florida BBB rates them as unsatisfactory because of misrepresenting its services, high pressure tactics etc. Recently Fox did an Iteam investigation on them and their scamming practices. Read SEVERAL letters written by former workers of the company (model scouts, photographers) and customers of the company indicating witnessing of fraud and scamming. Company changes its name every couple years in an attempt to avoid association with its scandalous history. I didn't know any of this until after giving out my credit card. I do not want to do business any longer; however they billed me the $995 registration fee and wont issue refund even though I cancelled. Furthermore, there are 3 consultants in this company who have histories of fraud on record. I cancelled 5 days after signing up.

Your best bet is to contact the Federal Trade Commission, the Florida Attorney General. Also notify the 3 major credit reporting agencies to put a fraud alert on your file so that if these people use your card for fraud, they will be stopped. Your chance of getting back your money is slim unless you go to Florida and find where they keep their money.
