Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Situation: Married, abusive husband. I was his sole support for the entire marriage. Finally I ask him to leave. He refuses, and then blackmails me, saying he will never leave unless I buy him a home to live in. I knew he would either kill me or drive me crazy, so I agreed.

His credit was very bad, so he could not even be on any paperwork. With my GOOD credit, I bought him a 5th Wheel Trailer, (no money down) with the UNWRITTEN understanding, that he would take the trailer, disappear into the sunset, make the monthly payment, and never return.

This was done, and I then got my divorce. Before the divorce, I put him through school. A VERY bright man, (just a lazy one) he graduated with honors (in California while working for General Atomics). He is then living in Palmdale with trailer.

My divorce then is final, and he volunteers to go to Iraq, which he does. (working for the military there - he does aircraft repair work.) He comes back a rich man, and then dumps "my" trailer with MY NAME on it in CA, and buys himself a nice new one....

NOW, and for the past few years, I am stuck with an old 2002 travel trailer which I owe $21,000 on, and it won't be paid off until 2020 for a total of $44,000.. Since it was in my name alone, and I was - and still am - responsible, I had to pay a hauler $2000. to go to CA to get it, and I have been paying the $250. a month on it ever since. The trailer is probably worth about $5,000. To even get the title would cost me the $21,000 cash, and then if I tried to sell it, I would only get $5,000 or so - at best. Now I am paying for title on trailer, insurance, storage fees, and the trailer payment.

This coward is still a thorn in my side, and I want out from under that trailer, so I will never have to think about him again. If I were a man, I would have taken care of him long ago, and forced him to take his piece of S____ back, be a man, and honor his agreement, but I am only a woman.

So - is there any way I can get rid of this trailer? - without losing that $16,000? I am no longer rich. My ex saw to that, but I can pay some attorney's fees.

I am now living in California. The trailer is in storage in Arizona. I tried to get Disability several times, but was never successful. I have Fibromyalgia, and ADHD - and have had since I was 22 or so. I am almost 65 now. (I was officially diagnosed by Jacob Teitelbaum, the head Fibromyalgia doctor in the entire US) My ex well knew how to take advantage of me.

Thank you.
