Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

small claims out of state

Can small claims court handle a case where the two people aren't in the same state? A seller is refusing to pay for a damaged package (they packed it very badly) and UPS says it's not their fault.

You can file the small claims court case, but you can't serve it. Small claims court can only be served on residents of California. You can learn more at www.courtinfo.ca.gov or by emailing me at [email protected] and asking for my free ebook on small claims court.
