Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Someone else uses my social security number under a different name. This has caused some problems for me. For example 1. when I applied for a job he was already employed at the office and they thought I was an Illegal Alien. I was never hired. 2. When I applied for Unemployment insurance the benefit amount was based upon two full time incomes (his and mine) I believe that there could be consequences for collecting extra monies. 3. At my bank Chase and my Delta Dental when ever they look my account up using my social security number his name comes up in additon to mine. They always ask me, "Are you Mr. XXX? " I am female, not male and my name is NOT XXX"
I went to Social Security to rectify this and they said, "Dont worry, he uses your number but under a different name." Can anything be done to rectify this situation?

I have heard from the Social Security Administration, that they really don't care and do not have resources to stop this illegal activity.
You can sue him. You can readily find out his name and address, and when you win your lawsuit you'll be able to pull his credit report, and find his bank account or other assets.
