Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Special Events Liability
I am planning a special events fundraiser benefitting a not-for-profit organization. The event will be held in a private work space, with expected attendance at 200-300.
The other event planner and myself are seeking a donation from an acohlic beverage sponsor. Will we need to obtain a liquor licence if the alcohol is donated? Does this change if we are not able to secure an alcohol sponsor and foot the bill ourselves to then resell?
Thank you!

Re: Special Events Liability
How the alchohol is acquired is not important. The fact that you are selling the alcohol is what is problematic. You will be required to obtain a "one day" beer and wine license to sell. Check with you local county for forms and procedures.
