Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

In the State of California, a groom pays for the brides wedding gown, the groom calls the wedding off, Is he entilted to get the gown back or be paid by the bride for the gown? or Is the gown hers to keep? Note: There wss no contract between the two for who pays for what, he choose to pay for it.

There is no specific law that I am aware in California with respect to wedding gowns and the cancellation of a wedding. California law does state the the guy doesn't get the engagement ring back if he breaks the engagement. If he doesn't break the engagement, he can request the ring back. If the issue came up in court, I wouldn't be surprised if a small claims judge decided the issue the same way with respect to a wedding gown.
