Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
The storage company broke the lock to my unit without notifying me because of a system error. Can I take any legal action against them.

Sure, go ahead, hire a lawyer, file suit. I work very efficiently and could easily take your case to trial for under $20,000.00. Much less if they settle quickly. And I can all but assure you that you will be awarded a judgment for the cost of the lock.

You can file suit in small claims court for the replacement cost of the damaged lock. Before suing, I would ask the storage company for the cost of the lock and it might simply give you the money.
