Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Store broke my tv
I bought a Sony 34'' CRT 200-lb TV
and an extended warranty to go with
it from a well-known store. The TV
failed while still under warranty. The
store incorrectly told me to bring the
TV into their store to have it repaired,
which I did; the TV should have been
repaired in-home due to its weight,
as they later told me. The store
forwarded the TV to a regional service
center. Within a week, a repairman
told me that he could not find a
problem. Five weeks later, I have
been told that my TV was damaged
in-transit and cannot be fixed.
Unfortunately, this model (and its
technology) have been discontinued
and cannot be replaced. I have been
offered a depreciated cost in return.
Should I have been offered the full
price? Also, there are 2 years left on
my extended warranty. Can that be
transferred or honored on the
replacement TV?

Re: Store broke my tv
It is impossible to say without reading the extended warranty. What does that say?
