Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Telephone Harassment

I have a question and you may or may not be able to answer it. I will make it short! I was recievin phone calls 4-6 times a day. I answered the call one day and it was a telemarketer. I asked them to take me off their list. 2 weeks later it started again. I contacted the police and put a trap on my phone. The trap was sucessful and it is being forwarded to the Police Department. Is there any legal action I can take to the company from which the calls were being placed from?

The trap is off and the results are on their way to the Police Department and these people are still calling. I trapped 10 calls in less than the 2 week trap time.. all calls are from the same number.

Re: Telephone Harassment

Yes. You may be able to bring an action against the company under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, 47 U.S.C. sections 227, et seq. You can also read 47 C.F.R. section 64.1200 for more information. Additionally, you may want to report this information to the Federal Trade Commission.
