Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Theft/ product insurance
I just bought a laptop online. I received it in the mail 4 days ago and it got stolen in my car yesterday along with my phone. The phone company replaced my unit with $ 50 deductible even if it was more than a month old. The laptop is brand new and I want they wont cover it. They didn't offer any insurance that comes with it on their website or anything. Now I have to pay $ 1500 for a product I dont even have. Please help

Re: Theft/ product insurance
You might make a claim with your auto insurance carrier, depending on the type of coverage you have. Otherwise, you would owe the money. You certainly can try to negotiate with the finance company, but you probably won't get anywhere. Good luck
Re: Theft/ product insurance
The company who sold you the laptop has no legal duty to offer you theft insurance. You should make a claim with your auto isurance carrier if you have the right coverage.
Re: Theft/ product insurance
Some credit card companies also provide coverage for this type of situation.
Re: Theft/ product insurance
You have two options: make a claim with your auto insurance under the comprehensive coverage and see if it is covered or make a claim with the credit card you used to pay for it.
