TV repairman distroyed the TV
1. 1997 - Bought top of the line 32'' Sony TV.
2. 1/2003 - picture problem (scan lines, not serious)
3. Called independent TV repair service. Repairman took unit to shop.
4. Phone tags for the next 1 1/2 weeks to retrieve TV. Reason from shop: they have replaced the part and want to ''burn it in'' for a while. Message from repair shop a few more days later: TV ''took a dive''
5. Suppose to meet and drop off TV at Sony repair center. TV repairman left before the designated time and did not wait. Note to Sony from repairman ''no picture, no sound.''
6. Condition when Sony received the unit : a) a piece of the front grill missing. b) 8� crack on side. c) Power cord mangled and bent.
7. Sony estimate costs $26. Their estimate for the broken case (front and side) - $87.78 and $107.59. Parts unavailable and cannot be repaired. The model has been discontinued and cannot be replaced.
Summary:
TV - left house with marginal picture and perfect sound. TV repairman dropped off unit with ''no picture, no sound, broken case.'' TV is �beyond repair.�
Question:
What kind of compensation should we expect from the TV repair shop? e.g. Estimate & case, case only, replacement cost of equivalent TV, other? We bought a 65'' TV for replacement.

Your best bet is to sue the repairman in small claims court. You are only7 entitled to the value of the TV at the time he took it.
