U-Haul Damage Waiver/Deductible
I rented a U-Haul van & paid the CDW damage waiver. I was not told that I am liable for a deductible up to 150.00. My wife asked the U-Haul manager if it covered ''all damage to the vehicle'' and he said it did. Later that day in traffic I smacked the right side mirror against the left side mirror of a bus. The mirror fixture closed against the van, and sustained no damage, but the mirror glass was broken . I took pictures and film of the damage & immediately called the U-Haul manager he asked if I had purchased the insurance. When I returned the van I still was not told that I owed any damages. Later that month I saw that I was charged an extra 153.00 fee to my credit card by U-Haul(I had it removed from my card) Uhaul claimed it was a damage charge. I disputed this with the local U-Haul & their insurance company which is owned by U-Haul (no response). I was never given an estimate of damages. Also on the contract there is a statement: ''however in return for paying the appropriate...Damage Waiver fee for pick up trucks and vans the Company will waive damages for the Equipment. '' They have now sent it to collections since removing the charge from my card.

Do you still have your original paperwork? If so, I'll be happy to review it without charge. This will likely determine your rights. Feel free to email.
Re: U-Haul Damage Waiver/Deductible
After Reading Your Contract (Puhleeze -- it's not about what they "said") you still believe the damage is covered, you could sue them in small claims court for, among other things, violation of the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for sending it to collections.
