Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Verbal Contract

I entered into a verbal, over-the-phone, not-recorded contract with a professional coaching company for a period of 1 year. I have never signed anything nor have I received a copy of the agreement and I cannot access the agreement from the company's website. However, I am billed monthly via my credit card as that is the only billing option. Per my intitial phone conversation with customer service of what services would be provided, I have not received such services. I have spoken to my coach as well as c.s. and they claim that I misunderstood what I would receive. I asked to be released from the contract but was told that I was locked in for 1 year. I want out!!! What recourse do I have? Thank you.

Re: Verbal Contract

It is not entirely clear from your description what services you expected to receive as opposed to what you actually received. The bottom line is that you shouldn't be paying for services you're not receiving. However, if you're simply not happy with the services, but they are as described, you may have no recourse. Likely, there is some agreement or language describing the services offered on the website. This would be your proof of what was offered.
