Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

Wage Garnishment

I had recieved a call at work regarding 7+ year old debt that was written off. When I got home and looked through my most recent report (no more than 60 days old) the debt was nowhere to be found, therefore I removed the funds in the account provided so the transaction would not go through. Now the agency is threatening me to garnish my wages. In California, can an out of state collection agency garnish my wages with no proof of the debt?

Re: Wage Garnishment

You must not pay anything or promise to pay, or you will reset the statute of limitations. They can't tap your bank account unless they first sue you and win. If they sued you already and never told you, or if they sue you on this legally uncollectible debt, I would very much like to represent you for a very reasonable fee.
