Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
I had a wedding reception and in september 09 and was never charged for drinks. They now january 12, 2010 are requesting a payment. It was all supposed to be automaticly paid. I was never asked for the remain balance till now four months later for $800. Do they have a right to the money?

Okay, so they made a mistake. They might have sloppy business practices, but you requested the service and apparently don't dispute that your guests consumed that much in alcohol. You owe the money, so pay up.
What do you mean by supposed to be paid automatically? If you drank the booze then you need to pay for it and it was either paid for or not. If it was not paid for then you still owe them the money, right? It is no a defense if they forgot to bill you earlier. They could wait for close to 4 years and then sue you for the bill and still be within their rights.
So check your records to see whether it was paid or not and if it wasnt pay them.
Good luck and hope that helps.
