Legal Question in Consumer Law in California
Yesterday night I was cooking some spinach and I saw something that was not right. I searched into the pot and I found it . It was a piece of plastic that came from inside the bag -the spinach is already washed and ready to use-, so I did not removed it at all from the bag previous to cooking it.
The piece is green, sharp and about 2" in length by almost 1/2" wide. I feel I was lucky it did not melt why I was cooking the spinach and above all, my family did not ingest that piece since it is hard and sharp to the touch. It was very upsetting. I did not contact the place where I bought the product because I really do not know what to do at this point. Am I entitled to any kind of compensation? What shall I do next? I live in Daly City, California. I would really appreciate some guidance on this issue. Thank you!

At the most, you might be entitled to a refund of your money for the spinach. You did not ingest the plastic and thus didn't not suffer any harm that would justify compensation beyond a refund. I would at least contact the store and the manufacturer to warn them in case they need to start a safety recall.
I agree you have little damages here. But you never know what the packager might do, at least refund money but they may do more but not legally obligated.
