Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

what do i do?

In 1994 a then good friend offered me a good deal on a car. I gave him $4000 cash and guy disappeared, refused to answer the phone, etc.

I reported to police, and in a couple of months I was invited to the LA Bankruptcy Court- my guy had filed for bancruptcy and the court had issued a discharge of debtor. I did not take any action in court, because I thought, my case has nothing to do with lending/ borrowing, and that court would have dismissed the case.

Now I have decided, that it might be worthwile to check with a lawyer: Can I do anything about returning my money back? And if legally I can not do anything, can I at least send to IRS form (?) that the guy has never reported an extra income back in 1994? (This is just for personal satisfaction, sort of little justice).

I would greatly appreciate if you answered my questions A.S.A.P. Thanks

I think its too late now but you could have disputed the discharge. Fraud is not dischargable.
