Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

In 1988 I was given a line of credit by Circuit City, I bought a few items totaling $690. Shortly afterward I lost my job and couldn't pay them. We talked and they asked me to return the items, I did. Now it's over 15 years later and some other company contacted me saying I owe them the $690. I disputed it, but they now have ruined the excellent credit I worked so hard for. Has the Statue of Limitations run out for collection? I'm in California. Aren't they supposed to write it off after a certain amount of time?

The statute of limitation has long since run. Tell them to pound sand. You can dispute the debts with the credit reporting agencies if they're still on your credit reports. They should have dropped off after a few years.
