Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

In 2009 I opened an account with Kay jewelers and never paid them back. My boyfriend was supposed to take over payments and never did. I now have a law firm or something calling me about a fraud claim against me for Kay jewelers. Should I take their settlement or offer lower? Or just go to court and bring it to a judge? This is in California. I am a single mother and my boyfriend at the time was supposed to make payments for this ring but left me and the baby and I havemt seen or heard from him since.

Your boyfriend's offer or statement to take over the payments does not relieve you of liability to pay your account.

It is not possible in this forum to tell you whether you should accept the settlement offer or try to negotiate better terms.

Mr Perry is right. It was your account, you had the contract with them...you are responsible to pay. You may be able to negotiate or you may be able to hire an attorney and negotiate a better settlement.
