Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

2 yrs ago my boyfriend at the time gave me $6,000 to help me pay for my expenses after he changed his mind about us living together. He had asked me to leave my job and move in with him promising to take care of myself and my daughter. I was pregnant at the time and left my job so that I could move in with him. 2 wks after moving in he changed his mind and said he had too many personal issues that he had to resolve and that us living together was not working out for him. I moved out that same day and didn't have a job or a place to live. Now he's asking for the money back claiming it was a loan but that was not what he told me. He called me about a week after i moved out and told me he had deposited $6,000 into my account. I never asked for it and when I asked him why he had done it he said it was to help me get back on my feet after what happened. He's asked me to go see a lawyer and sign an agreement saying I will pay him back or he will take me to court. What can I do?

Countersue for fraud and palimony. And regardless of what you do about the $6,000, assuming the baby is his, you need to go after him for child support. What a jerk.
