6yrs too long to collect on surrendered/ repo vehicle?
Six years ago (2001) I willingly surrendered a vehicle. I have never contacted the company after this. It has even come off of my credit report. Now I rec'd a letter from a collection company stating I owe them money and intrest, because they bought my account. Isn't 6 yrs to long to collect on an account? Can they sell it to a collection agency after 6 yrs? Is this going to go on my credit all over again?

Normally the statute of limitations is 4 years from the date of a breach for a lawsuit based upon breach of contract. If a collection agency is claiming you are owed money past this statute of limitation, you may have a claim against them. Please call me if you have any other questions.
