Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Abstract of judgement
I have been notified that there is an abstract of judgement against me that I have no knowledge of. How do I find out how to prove that there has been a mistake ?. Who do I contact?

Re: Abstract of judgement
Ask the person who notified you for a copy. Then take a look at the name and location of the court and the case number, go either online or to the courthouse and research what the case is about. You might be able to set aside the judgment based upon your lack of knowledge and service of the lawsuit. If the debt is one you agree you owe, you might make arrangements to pay it.

Sometimes, you may have the same name as another debtor. If this is actually you, there is probably a judgment. We would have to see about setting it aside if you were not served.
