Abstract Judgement

My sister has an Abstract of Judgement recorded against her in the Los Angeles County recorder's office on 11/2008. It is a judgement from a credit card / collections company (NCO) for ~$10,000. She owes this money. Unfortunately, she is broke and is currently working in another country.

Back in 5/2003, she Quit Claimed a condominium to me and I refinanced the property under my name and paid off the original mortgage that she had taken out. She was having difficulties making payments and my parents live in that condo. The property and new mortgage has been under my name since that time (5/03) and I have been paying the mortgage and all related taxes on the property.

I am considering refinancing the mortgage but I am wondering if the Abstract of Judgement can create a lien against my property (even though the property was transferred to me back in 5/03). She also has other credit card debt although she hasn't received any more Abstract of Judgement notices in the mail.

Any help here would be appreciated.

It shouldn't affect the property, as it was recorded (long) after the property transfer. It would affect any property in her name at the time of, or after, the transfer.
