Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Allowable Charges

I fell behind in paying a credit card. I stopped using the card, and have not used it since August, 1999. I closed the account with the balance due. I continued to make payments when possible, and the card issuer continued to add finance & late charges, resulting in a growing balance due. Since closing the account, my statements show a "$0.00" credit limit. As of my last statement, the card issuer is adding, in addition to finance charges and late charges an "over credit limit charge." My question is: Can the card issuer, in addition to the finance and late charges add this "over the limit charge?" Thank you.

Re: Allowable Charges

They can add pretty much whatever the contract allows.
