Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
American Express - Leave it at Home!
Due to a whole host of mishaps including illegal use of my credit card by my former boss, I now owe American Express $15,000.00. They will not accept the payment plan I offered unless I could come up with $4,000 by Monday. Therefore, we will be going to court because they want a judgement even though I hardly make any money and the garnish amount would be smaller than what I was willing to pay. What kind of attorney do I need? I do not want to go to court with them by myself. Is this a Criminal case? What can I expect to happen? They have sicked a "collection person" on me who called me at work after I specifically requested them not to, was EXTREMELY nasty and inferred that he knew everything about me including my assets, where I lived, etc. What are my rights and what can I do??

You are not liable for illegal use of the card. You may very well owe them nothing. It is not a criminal case, dont worry. You need a civil lawyer, like me. Call me to discuss you case in more detail. I will not charge you for the call.
