You can prevent a wage garnishment by obtaining a court order staying execution of the judgment. You can obtain such a court order by filing a bankruptcy or a sometimes a motion to set aside a judgment or by appealing the case and posting a bond.
Where to get the forms? Hmm. I suppose you could find sample forms at the local Law Library. To do your own bankruptcy, without any prior legal experience, you are probably looking at around 300 or more hours of your time to "fill in" the forms...if it is a simple bankruptcy.
To do the motion, if the law allows you to, you may be looking at around 80 hours or more of your time. To do an appeal and get a stay; probably at least 250 hours, if it is a simple appeal.
Best of Luck!
