Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Answer-Contract

I am in the process of completing an Answer-Contract to a Collection Summons I received. Are there any other forms that accompany this response to the Plaintiff? Is the Answer-Contact mailed or needs to be served to Plaintiff? Thanks!

Re: Answer-Contract

Please keep in mind that if you have any claims against the plaintiff (violation of state or federal fair debt collections laws, credit reporting laws, etc.), you should serve a cross-complaint at the SAME TIME that you serve your answer. Your answer is due 30 days from the day you were served.

The only other form you must have is a proof of service.

Service by first-class mail is acceptable.

Feel free to contact your county's bar association to find out where you might obtain free legal advice. It would not hurt to have a lawyer look over your documents before they're served.

Good luck.
