Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

ATT Wireless Bill

On 4/8/08 - I call AT&T to convert my ''PDA'' to a regular cell phone asking that the data-plan be eliminated. I made this request as a result of my company issuing PDAs for their field staff.

On 4/19/08 - I contacted AT&T regarding an issue I had with another service (Uverse), and they informed me that I had an 'Alert' on my account. I called the Wireless group who stated that I had abnormally high volumes of data/charges on my cell phone over the past week. I stated to the representative that I had asked for the data plan to be eliminated from my PDA - but evidently, the original rep just moved me off the 'unlimited plan' and onto the 'a la carte' pay as you go plan. I informed the rep on 4/19 that this was incorrect and to immediately block all data capabilities.

Recently received my ATT bill - it has over $6400.00 in data charges. I've escalated this matter through the ATT Billing group - and so far have been denied.

I have no intentions of paying this as they didn't do the right thing from day 1 on 4/8/08.

So, I know this is heading down a hard path and want to know what I can do legally to deal with this matter. I've been a good customer to ATT and feel totally disgusted about this whole situation.

Re: ATT Wireless Bill

Make sure to put your issues in writing, and send the letter to the appropriate customer service department by certified, return receipt mail. Keep a copy. Can your company help you with this issue? Why are they sending so many text messages, anyway? -grin- You might also complain in writing to the California Public Utilities Commission. That might get results.
