Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I attended a private liberal arts college back in 2005. I completed two semesters but did not have the finances to return, and I still had an outstanding balance on my tuition when I left. It has been 6 years and I am looking to enroll at another college but I need my transcripts from this previous college.
Since most colleges will not releast transcripts until the balance is paid, I was wondering if I still owe the school money since so much time has passed. I understand that the statute of limitations in CA for written agreements is 4 years. Any help would be appreciated.

Even if the school has waited too long in bring a suit for the unpaid tuition, it is not going to help you get your transcripts. Just because they no longer have a cause of action, doesn't mean they have to release your transcripts.
