Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Need atty to help clear up credit
I am attempting to clean up my credit. I owe about $30,000. I would very much like to pay what I owe and improve my credit this coming year.
5 of my credit cards have been charged off and gone into collection. Statues of limitation has not run out and I can get sued. Thus, I want to settle these debts once and for all.
When I check my credit report, I just see that I still owe my debts to the original creditor and not any of the collection companies that have contacted me. Who do I contact to negotiate payments with? How do I know for sure that these company owns the debt and my money is going to the right place. Every time I ask for debt validation, they just send copies of old statements.
Is there an attorney out there who handle cases such as this? I need an atty who charges reasonable fees. I live in Southern CA. Thanks!
