Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Authorized Users
My husband has accounts written off or sent to collections from a previous marriage four years ago. I have listed him as the authorized user on my credit cards and we have two joint cards. A collection company called me and threatened to freeze my credit accounts. Can they freeze my credit cards if he is an authorized user?

Re: Authorized Users
Don't speak to collection agencies, deal with them only in writing, certified mail RRR. Debts that are over four years old are legally uncollectable, do not make a payment or promise to make a payment, you would reset the clock and you could reinstate their right to sue! A collection agency has no ability to "freeze" your credit cards. There are many things that collection agencies routinely do that are illegal and that they can be sued for, Google [FDCPA].
