Re: Auto Repossesion

They can take your car anywhere they find it, provided it is in the open. In other woords, if you hide it in your garage, they cannot break in and take it. If you leave it in your driveway, they can.

Call the lender and explain what is happening. Often times, you will get a clerk who has no authority, other than to demand the car back. Ask to speak to a manager and try to arrange reduced payments.

The problem that you face is that, when you get caught up, if you ever get behind again, they can reposess it quickly.

Re: Auto Repossesion

As soon as you are late with a payment on your car, your creditor (the business that gave you the loan or credit to buy the car) has the right to get your car.

Even though people at your finance company may say that they will not take your car if you are late with a payment, they can still take your car when you miss a payment. You need to get any guarantees about repossession in writing for them to be legally binding.
