Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Auto Sale
Yes - I bought a used 2009 Toyota Camry and almost walked out twice during the sale telling them I couldn't afford it. I was ''video taped'' in the finance office and ''gave in'' and signed the papers . . . then they called me back the next week to ''give me a better deal'' and re-signed in another office. I am beginnning to wonder if I could have canceled the contract at that point - anyway - I REALLY cannot afford the car payment of $430 a month. My insurance went up as well to around $90 a month - that's just too much money for me right now . . . I am wondering if there is any legal recourse to return the car and owe nothing. I realize that I'd be out of a car - since I know they sold my trade in (I AM STILL UPSET ABOUT ALL OF THIS SO MUCH I FEEL SICK!!) God, I really hate the people there for selling me the car - I just want to return the car and owe nothing - I really would like my old car back. I know I would then be out of a car - but I guess that's the way it goes. HELP!!!! What can I do, if anything??!? Is there anything I can do?

Re: Auto Sale
If the deal is contingent upon their obtaining financing for you and you do not qualify, then they should ask you to return the vehicle. If you're supposed to get your own financing, you have to make a reasonable effort to do so.
It's always wise to bring someone with you when buying a car -- a person who knows when to intercede and is physically strong enough to drag you out the door.
