How can I avoid having my wages garnished by a bank collecting their money?

Either 1) settle with them, 2) file for bankruptcy protection, or 3) contact an attorney about successfully defending the lawsuit if you are sued. If you were already sued and you lost the case or you failed to answer the lawsuit, see 1) and 2).

Michael covered the bases. If you can't afford(?) to have your wages garnished or if they won't settle....then #2 goes to the top of the list; You never said whether you owe the money but we assume you owe the Bank and are without defense.....

If you pass the 'means test,' then you can just eliminate the debt and get a 'fresh start.'
