Re: Bad Credit Report

Actually, under the new credit law (FACT), the bank does have to contact the credit reporting agency. Under existing law (FCRA), you have the right to dispute anything on your credit report and the credit reporting agency has to remove the disputed item within 30 days unless they can re-verify it. It has been suggested to me that enrolling in a program such as creditexpert.com, that lets you dispute credit reports online, can be effective because the dispute is sent electronically and they have less time to verify disputed items. Or you can send dispute letters. Search the web (google.com) for "FCRA Dispute."
