Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
bad
Today I purchased a used car. I test drove it and it seemed fine. I signed the papers then drove away. immediately upon entering the freeway I noticed how incredibly noisy the car was -- tire or road noise or drive shaft. No matter what, it was outrageously loud. I mean incredibly LOUD. I had driven other cars of the same model and this didn't happen with them. During the test drive, the salesperson took me on the freeway and said...oh, this is the worst section of in the whole area -- so the noises became, ok because of the 'bad' road surface. Wrong. It was unbelievable as I drove the 90 minutes home - I even had to OFF the radio because it just added to the cacophony. I was fuming. What happens if I just return the car and cancel the check that they have yet to deposit? And more...we are about to do Chap 7. The car was one of the last things to do -- we were to 'reaffirm' the loan to help rebuild credit. Can they come after me in any meaningful way? This is terrible timing...I thought this was done (sigh). Please help.

Re: bad
Welcome to life as a grown-up. Most people who come to LawGuru with used car stories have merely used poor judgment in not having the car checked out by an independent mechanic. Your judgment was even worse. Even Miss South Carolina would have known there was something wrong with the car just by listening to it. Good luck stopping payment on your check.
